The Mariners are home. And they need this.

After a bruising road trip that saw them drop four in a row — swept in Anaheim and now bleeding games in Arlington — Seattle comes limping back to T-Mobile Park at 4-8, sitting 2.5 games out of first in the AL West. The city deserves better than what we’ve seen on the road. And starting this Friday, April 10, the M’s get a chance to flip the script with a 4-game home stand against the Houston Astros.

This isn’t just any series. It’s the first real look at whether this team has the grit to fight through an ugly early-April stretch — or whether the hole they’ve dug is going to get deeper.

What to Watch For

Can the Rotation Settle Down?

The starting pitching has been inconsistent, to put it charitably. Logan Gilbert took the loss in both of his April starts so far. George Kirby — who was supposed to be the ace — has struggled to lock down games when it matters, going 0-2 with a loss at Texas. Emerson Hancock threw a gem in Game 4 to beat Cleveland, but gave one back in Anaheim.

This Astros series is a gut check for the rotation. Houston isn’t the 100-win juggernaut they were a few years ago, but they’re not pushovers either. The M’s need a couple of quality starts here to give the offense a chance to breathe.

Julio and the Lineup Need to Wake Up

Julio Rodríguez was supposed to enter 2026 as one of the best players in the AL. That’s still probably true — but the early returns haven’t been explosive. When Julio is locked in, this offense is electric. When he’s grinding through a slump, the whole lineup feels flat.

The home crowd at T-Mobile has a way of charging him up. If you’re going to a game this weekend, don’t sleep on the possibility of watching J-Rod do something that makes you forget the losing streak entirely.

If you’ve been waiting to get the man’s jersey, now’s a perfect time — the Julio Rodríguez jersey is one of the best-sellers in the Northwest for a reason.

Cal Raleigh Behind the Plate

Cal “Big Dumper” Raleigh continues to be the heart and soul of this ballclub. The catcher who hit his way into franchise legend with walk-off heroics in recent seasons remains one of the most beloved players in the clubhouse and in Seattle. He’s a rock defensively, and when he gets hot with the bat, this team is genuinely dangerous.

If you want to rep the guy who Seattle fans will be talking about for decades, the Cal Raleigh jersey belongs in your rotation.

Why You Should Be There

Look — it’s easy to stay home when the team is 4-8. We get it. But here’s the thing: some of the most memorable games in Mariners history happened after rough starts. This team hasn’t quit. The roster has talent. And watching a ballpark come alive when the M’s finally string together a couple wins? That’s why we watch.

April games at T-Mobile are genuinely fun — smaller crowds, better sight lines, and you can actually move around. Weekend games April 11–13 have the best vibe, with Saturday night under the lights being peak baseball energy.

Check ticket availability on SeatGeek — the April 10–13 games are available now, and with the team’s record, you might find some surprisingly good deals in the lower bowl.

The Big Picture

The AL West is still very much up for grabs. The Mariners aren’t buried yet — 4-8 feels bad, but it’s April, and teams come back from worse. What they can’t afford to do is fall to 4-12.

Four games against Houston at home, with the crowd behind them, is exactly the reset button this team needs. Come out, be loud, and let’s get this thing going.

Let’s go, Mariners. 🧢
